Martin is a landscape architect in our Glasgow office, with over 30 years’ experience. He works across a number of sectors, but specialises in urban and landscape design, regeneration, development planning, landscape appraisals and heritage landscape conservation and management.

He has delivered a number of prestigious public realm projects, led many urban design projects, and prepared regeneration strategies for urban areas, towns and smaller settlements. Martin is an accomplished and sensitive designer with experience in taking projects from strategy to implementation, and with an acute eye for detail. His work spans both urban and rural environments, and for the latter he has addressed many sites of landscape and heritage sensitivity, creating award-winning rural design projects.

He has also extensive experience in the heritage sector, leading LUC’s work on historic landscapes in Scotland for 20 years. This experience includes work on the Inventory of Gardens & Designed Landscapes in Scotland, preparing numerous conservation management plans and leading notable regeneration projects for some of Scotland’s premier designed landscapes and urban parks.

He has led several internationally short-listed competitions and, for several years, acted as a senior monitor on behalf of the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Outside work: Martin’s interests include swimming, skiing, motorcycling, eating and painting.
