Build Up Hackney, a new green space on Flanders Way, is now open to the public. It was designed and built by local young people, for the whole community to enjoy.
LUC supported the project by running a workshop in May. We asked local young people to consider tree constraints and develop early concept designs. We also advised on topsoil, wildflower seeding and planting when the group was constructing the site this summer.
The project was completed on-site through autumn half term.
Build Up Hackney was opened by CBBC presenter Dr Ronx and the Mayor of Hackney. We are pleased the project has been recognised with a Mayor of London’s Volunteering Award.
