LUC’s Landscape Planners are delighted to have been Commended by RTPI South West for their Plymouth Strategic Landscape and Seascape Character and Sensitivity Study alongside Plymouth City Council.
We were Commended within the ‘Excellence in Decision Making in Planning’ category in the South West division of the RPTI.
This study will help Plymouth City Council, adjacent local authorities and the nearby protected landscapes develop a stronger understanding of the character and sensitivity of the landscapes within and surrounding the City. The results of this study are already being used to inform landscape policies in the emerging Plymouth and South West Devon Joint Local Plan, as well as site allocations. The Seascape Character Assessment provides a framework to understand and account for the city’s strong maritime character as Britain’s ‘Ocean City’.
The project has also been shortlisted for the national RTPI awards for Planning Excellence. Stephen Wilkinson, President of the Royal Town Planning Institute said:
“The finalists represent some outstanding contributions to planning which are making a positive impact for the community and environment. The judges will find it difficult choosing the winners given the high calibre of entries this year.”
The winners will be announced during a ceremony held at Milton Court at The Barbican, London on 15 June 2017.
