Juli joined LUC on St. Patrick’s Day in 2014. Her professional experience includes a wide range of roles and aspects of the ecology and environmental sectors. From hydro-ecology (designing watercourse diversions and SUDS wetlands) to the suite of ecology field surveys, Juli is often considered to specialise in bats, but her interests extend to other mammals as well as amphibians.
Juli has worked in both the private sector and public sector, with a stint at SNH; she brings a unique perspective on development and ecological management. As a specialist in protected species legislation and the consenting process, Juli routinely works within the context of the licensing and planning to assess potential impacts on protected ecological features.
Juli is particularly skilful is assessing proposals and determining what information is relevant to inform the consenting process and what can be pragmatically achieved.
Juli is a vocal member of CIEEM and is committed to improving the perception of the Ecology Industry and the standards of its work, especially north of the border. This has led to her joining the CIEEM Scotland Network Committee with the hope of shaking things up. She is a passionate perfectionist and believes we can all be better, in whatever we do.
Outside of work: Juli will be spoiling her cocker spaniel, exploring the world with her partner, especially old places, looking for that elusive Scottish sunshine and when that fails voraciously reading her Kindle.
