Supporting development management through EIA review.

The aim of Environmental Impact Assessment reviews is to make sure that Environmental Statements (ESs) contain sufficient robust information for consenting authorities to make informed decisions on applications. We’ve undertaken more than 100 individual reviews for local planning authorities.

Our work provides an independent stamp of approval for the ES that reduces the risk of legal challenge to planning decisions. We also back up our conclusions at Enquiry on behalf of our clients.

We are registrants of the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA)’s EIA Quality Mark Scheme and use IEMA’s ES guidance to review the content, methodology and quality of ESs, identifying gaps in the environmental information and providing technical advice on what extra detail is needed to enable a decision.

We also provide specialist pre-application advice to councils, helping to prepare EIA scoping opinions in liaison with applicants. We updated the London Borough of Tower Hamlets’ EIA Scoping Guidance for applicants.

We hold long running contracts with the London boroughs of Lewisham and Hackney, and Tower Hamlets in partnership with Cascade Consulting, to review ESs accompanying major planning applications.
