Faith groups planning report published
A ground-breaking report on planning for faith communities in Barking & Dagenham has been published. The report, by CAG in conjunction with LUC, Dr Richard Gale (Cardiff University) and Dr Andrew Rogers (Roehampton University) provides a model for other local authority areas experiencing rapid demographic change.
The study will form an important part of the evidence base for the emerging Local Plan and recommendations included a new policy for engaging with faith communities and planning policy recommendations on meeting the need for facilities of different types, with a particular focus on the role of major redevelopment areas. This evidence gathering and policy development work complements LUC’s wider experience of social infrastructure and spatial planning.
The study report can be found here. For further information, contact LUC Director of Planning, Philip Smith.
