LUC has successfully concluded field surveys for the Natural England agri-environment resurvey, visiting over 400 Higher Level Stewardship (HLS) and Countryside Stewardship (CS) agreements across England in the past two and a half years.
The resurvey aims to provide Natural England with valuable insights into the effectiveness and user experience of agri-environment schemes.
By collecting data on biodiversity, landscape, historic environment, resource protection, and climate change mitigation and adaptation, LUC is building an evidence base to aid understanding of how these schemes have evolved over time.
The next phase of the project will focus on data preparation and analysis, with the goal of producing a comprehensive report in 2025. By comparing new data with baseline surveys, LUC will be able to assess the relationships between management practices and environmental outcomes.
Stay tuned for the results of LUC's agri-environment resurvey, a project that will inform the evolution of Defra funding for England's landscapes and wildlife.
