Sun shining through two large, ancient trees

Have your say on Herefordshire’s trees, hedgerows and woodlands

LUC is excited to work again with Herefordshire Council to develop their Trees, Hedgerow and Woodlands Strategy.

A tree's roots

Ongoing collaboration

This project continues our work for the council from 2022, which involved developing the Natural Environment Evidence Project to inform the Herefordshire Council Local Plan Review.

Integrated digital outputs included a Green and Blue Infrastructure Strategy, Landscape Character Assessment, Open Space Assessment and an Analysis of Habitats and Species across the county.

Enhancing and conserving trees and hedgerows

The Tree, Hedgerow and Woodlands Strategy aims to support the conservation, improved management and enhancement of the county’s treescape and hedgerow network. The document will set out an aspirational, yet achievable, future vision for Herefordshire’s treescape.

Greenspace connectivity

The strategy will support the county’s wider initiatives to enhance greenspaces and promote landscape connectivity. It also aligns with other initiatives such as the Local Nature Recovery Plan, statutory Biodiversity Net Gain and the Ash Dieback Action Plan.

Tackling climate change

The work is part of Herefordshire Council’s response to tackling the climate and ecological emergencies and its commitment to becoming carbon-neutral by 2030. It will also consider how the county can support national tree planting objectives and address declines in habitats and biodiversity.

We need your help - have your say

Part of our work includes listening to the voices and opinions of stakeholders and residents.  By sharing your thoughts, you'll help us ensure the new strategy reflects what matters most to you about Herefordshire’s treescape.

The survey takes just a few minutes to complete and is completely anonymous. Help us shape the future of trees, hedgerows and woodlands across Herefordshire!

The survey closes on Sunday 8 December 2024.
