James Leonard, a Welsh landscape artist from the Vale of Glamorgan, brings a unique blend of architectural expertise and a painterly sensibility to his work. With a background in architecture and over a decade of specialisation in its visualisation, James passionately explores light, colour, and new approaches to paint contre-jour in his artwork.

The latest series of Landscape Artist of the Year features James and other artists embarking on a journey to picturesque locations across the UK. From the medieval cliff-top grounds of Dunnottar Castle to the historic Buckler’s Hard New Forest, the competitors face diverse challenges in capturing the beauty of these unique landscapes.

At stake is a £10,000 commission for the science museum, where the winner will create a piece celebrating the Orkney islands and their key role in the sustainable energy revolution.

LUC values passion, insight, and creativity – qualities that James embodies in his artistic pursuits. As he competes for the title of Landscape Artist of the Year, we wish James the best of luck in showcasing his talent on a national stage.

At LUC, our people are at the heart of our success. James Leonard's participation reflects our commitment to fostering creativity and embracing challenges, embodying the values that define our company.

Good luck, James, in this exciting artistic journey!
