Last week, our Edinburgh team dedicated a day to support the Water of Leith Conservation Trust. This marks the second consecutive year our team has engaged in conservation efforts with the Trust, building on last year's successful project around St Bernards Well!
This year, our team split into two groups to tackle different tasks. One group focused on enhancing Bogs Meadow by raking off cuttings, removing fire sites, and trimming back the walkway. The second group took to the river, participating in a deep clean to remove wet wipes and other plastic waste. This effort is crucial in preserving the health and beauty of the Water of Leith, ensuring it remains a clean and inviting space for everyone.
"Supporting the wildflower meadow along the waterway was incredibly rewarding. By raking off the cuttings, we help maintain a habitat essential for pollinators and a nature corridor for bees and butterflies. Trimming the walkway also improves accessibility and reduces litter, which enhances the overall experience for all users."

"The day at the Water of Leith Visitor Centre was fantastic. It was great fun to try on waders, get involved in litter picking, and connect with more of the LUC team. Volunteering with the Water of Leith Conservation Trust is a highly rewarding experience, and I wholeheartedly recommend it."
