In her new role, Sarah will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight to LUC’s planning services. She will also play a key role in developing LUC’s whole-company strategy and the running of the business.

Sarah is a highly respected figure in the planning sector and the RTPI named her as a Women of Influence in 2020. She has worked on a wide range of projects, including developing guidance for Governments, statutory bodies and local authorities on various planning matters, preparing evidence for local plans and assessing the environmental impacts of development proposals. She is also a frequent speaker at industry events.

Sarah succeeds Philip Smith who has decided to stand down from the Company Board after more than 10 years in the role but will remain a Planning Director.

“I am delighted to welcome Sarah to the Company Board. She is a highly experienced and respected planner with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the planning sector. I am confident that she will make a significant contribution to the future success of LUC.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Philip Smith for his many years of service to LUC as a Board Director. Under Philip’s leadership, LUC’s planning team has grown very significantly and diversified to include transport, heritage, placemaking, natural capital and carbon management services. This success was recognised by the RTPI in 2019 and 2022 when LUC was named Planning Consultancy of the Year. I’m delighted that Philip will remain a Planning Director, undertaking more client work.”
