LUC has completed the landscape design for Phase 2 of ARU Peterborough's new university campus.
The phase introduces wildflower meadow attenuation basins which have thrived during their first growing season. The landscape design includes retained trees, ornamental planting, and rain gardens. The aim was to integrate the new campus into the parkland and heritage settings. It creates a welcoming atmosphere on the campus and stands out as a unique feature in the city.
LUC joined the project three years ago, alongside our design team partners, MCW architects, Smith & Wallwork and Mace.
Since then, ARU has expanded its course offerings and student admissions. The Architects’ Journal has recently shortlisted the project for the 2023 Award for Higher Education.
The third phase of the project is the construction of a living lab and specialist academic facilities. It is currently underway and is due to be completed in September 2024.
