LUC demonstrates commitment to IEMA EIA Quality Mark

We are delighted to share that we have successfully met the IEMA EIA Quality Mark Commitment 7 for the 2023-2024 term. This commitment focuses on enhancing the profile of high-quality Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) by collaborating with IEMA to deliver a set of agreed activities annually and sharing relevant examples of our work with the wider EIA community.

As an EIA Quality Mark registrant, we adhere to seven key commitments. In relation to Commitment 7, we are required to annually provide articles, presentations, case studies, and similar materials that demonstrate our compliance to its requirements.

Here are the key activities we completed to fulfil this commitment:

  1. Future of Renewables Presentation: Our Board Director for Ecology, Steve Jackson-Matthews, delivered this to a law firm and their renewable energy clients in November 2023. The presentation addressed the biodiversity crises and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) within the context of EIA.
  2. Career Path and EIA Overview Presentation: Jess Pearce, Principal Environmental Planner at LUC, presented to students at the University of West England in November 2023. Jess discussed her career path into EIA and provided an overview of LUC's work, with a focus on EIA.
  3. Scottish Renewables: Planning the Energy Transition Seminar and IEMA Webinar: Jo Wotton, Associate Director of Environmental Planning at LUC, led these sessions in March 2024. Jo updated participants on her work with the Scotland’s Onshore Wind Sector Deal: EIA Task and Finish Group.
  4. Waterfront EIA and EOR Masterclass: Delivered by Joanna Wright, Director of Environmental Planning at LUC, in December 2023, focussing on incorporating climate change resilience and net zero into EIA applications.

We would like to thank the members of our EIA team for consistently upholding high standards. Their commitment demonstrates that LUC is continuing to be at the forefront of best practice.

EIA involves various disciplines at LUC, such as ecology, landscape and visual impact assessment, visualisation, heritage, and planning. Our integrated, multi-disciplinary approach, combined with collaboration with a range of partners, exemplifies our company strategy in practice.
