LUC-designed Headstone Manor picks up BALI Award 2023

LUC is proud to announce that the BALI National Landscape Awards have honoured our project, Headstone Manor, with the Nature Conservation and Biodiversity Enhancement Principal Award.

The London Borough of Harrow appointed LUC to lead the design and delivery for the development of the Headstone Manor Parks for People restoration project and Flood Alleviation Scheme. The initiative aimed to rejuvenate the green space surrounding the moated Headstone Manor Museum.

In this collaborative project, LUC worked closely with Harrow’s Community Engagement team, Thames21, Stirling Maynard, Huntley Cartwright, Metis Consultants and landscape contractors Ground Control.

The park restoration sought to preserve the historic moat and setting, introduce ecological enhancements, and celebrate site heritage. Key improvements included a new sedimentation system to improve the moat’s water quality, a flood alleviation basin to support the Yeading Brook, reinstatement of the historic fruit orchard, as well as new visitor routes and upgraded play space.

The completed scheme has successfully brought about positive change to the park as a whole, and surrounding area with improved water quality, enhanced biodiversity and visitor amenity.
