LUC leads development of Tarbet masterplan

LUC has developed a comprehensive masterplan for the Tarbet Visitor Centre.

Acting on behalf of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, the initiative aims to transform the west side of Loch Lomond into a prime visitor destination. The site is strategically located at the A82 and A83 junction.

The masterplan encompasses a range of improvements aimed at enhancing visitor experience. This includes upgraded parking facilities, improved visitor circulation, the installation of EV charging points, and enhanced amenities for cyclists and those travelling by water.

Embracing sustainable design principles, the proposal incorporates blue infrastructure, biodiversity enhancements, and woodland management. It introduces innovative architectural elements to cater to visitor needs and activities, while also improving circulation for buses and motorhomes to encourage sustainable travel.

Following the submission of the Tarbet Masterplan proposals for planning consent, the project has progressed to the construction stage for phase one, with tendering concluded in December 2023. Project implementation commenced in January and is anticipated to reach completion in the summer.
