LUC is thrilled to share that the Development Framework for the Hagshaw Energy Cluster has won the Sustainable Development at The Scottish Green Energy Awards.
The framework intends to shape the future of sustainable development - including renewable energy development - within the Hagshaw Energy Cluster in the South Lanarkshire and East Ayrshire Regions.
As well as tackling the climate crisis, the innovative framework identifies opportunities that will provide a boost to landscape and habitat restoration in the area, as well as improving connectivity within the local environment.
LUC's Landscape Planning & Management team worked collaboratively with NatureScot, South Lanarkshire Council, East Ayrshire Council, and Architecture & Design Scotland to establish the development framework which was published earlier this year.
Our Associate Director of Landscape Planning, Dan Walker, attended the awards ceremony yesterday evening to accept the award. He enjoyed catching up with our client Brendan Turvey from NatureScot and Sarah O'Sullivan from South Lanarkshire Council.
“Humbled and delighted to collect the Sustainable Development Award: for the Hagshaw Energy Cluster – Development Framework last night. It’s been a truly collaborative effort getting the project this far, and recognises the hard work and perseverance of everyone involved over the past three years. However, it’s the recognition and endorsement of the concept and vision which is most important to the team, who passionately believe that this collaborative approach provides a real and replicable model which can change the way we look at renewable energy development and deliver truly transformational change for people, nature and place.”

We would like to congratulate all parties involved in bringing the Development Framework to life, and to all the other winners and finalists.
