LUC promotes two Environmental Planners: Catrin Owen and Jo Wotton

LUC is delighted to announce the promotion of Catrin Owen to Director of Environmental Planning and Jo Wotton to Associate Director of Environmental Planning. These promotions come at a pivotal time as the environmental sector experiences dynamic shifts, particularly within renewable energy and infrastructure development.

Through her involvement in National Grid’s Norwich to Tilbury Project, Catrin’s work is helping to deliver the country’s longest new section of transmission infrastructure in decades. The project is part of The Great Grid Upgrade – the largest overhaul of the electricity grid in generations. Its purpose is to connect more renewable energy to homes and businesses. The endeavour is a project of critical national need and a key component of the UK Government’s ability to achieve net zero.

Jo is currently leading the Onshore Wind Sector Deal (OWSD) Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) 'Task and Finish Group' in collaboration with Ramboll. This initiative unites a dedicated core team comprising developers and statutory consultees seeking to enhance the efficiency of the EIA process for onshore wind farms in Scotland, aligning with the objectives of the OWSD. The OWSD outlines various initiatives from the Scottish Government and onshore wind industry to support the advancement of onshore wind power in Scotland, targeting the installation of 20 GW by 2030.

"Catrin and Jo are involved in key projects which help to de-carbonise our energy infrastructure. Their work has a positive impact and helps puts LUC mission to deliver better futures for nature, people and places into practice. Both promotions are richly deserved."
