Major Mixed Use Development granted planning consent
We are delighted that a major mixed-use development on Shoreditch High Street was consented last week.
The development comprises a 30-storey tower with hotel, commercial space, retail and leisure facilities. Significant issues included those typically associated with high-rise tower schemes in urban environments: townscape and visual impact; microclimate including wind modelling, daylight/sunlight and overshadowing; archaeology; ground conditions and noise and vibration; and construction method and logistics.
LUC Director Nick Hilton said: ‘we are proud to have been involved with the delivery of planning consent for this exciting new development in one of the most vibrant corners of our city. It was a genuine pleasure to work with our client Highgate Hotels as well as a high-performing team of planners, project managers technical specialists and architects’.
Feedback from our client was very positive: “The LUC team delivered an excellent ES on a complex project on time, clearly understood the needs of the local planning authority, and effectively coordinated the team of EIA specialists. Their ability to understand the role of the EIA in the context of wider planning issues helped to ensure an efficient application process with consent secured within five months of submission.”
