LUC’s Principal Historic Environment Consultant, Owen Barton, is due to speak at a Leeds New Briggate High Street Heritage Action Zone event this month.
On 23 September, the public can meet architects, conservators and heritage specialists who are working on the New Briggate High Street Heritage Action Zone in Leeds.
LUC is currently preparing a repair and maintenance guide for the Leeds Grand Quarter High Street Heritage Action Zone. Owen’s talk will advise historic building owners, managers and occupiers about best practice concerning the repair and maintenance of their buildings.
The Grand Quarter in Leeds was a culturally and commercially important part of the city in the Victorian era. It had confident architecture such as the Leeds Grand theatre and the Grand Arcade – one of the city’s most distinctive shopping arcades.
The High Street Heritage Action Zone will help transform the Grand Quarter, by making New Briggate more pedestrian friendly, increasing activity in St John’s churchyard and revitalising buildings through conservation and refurbishment projects.
The event takes place at St John’s Church, New Briggate. Book your place on the session for free with Eventbrite.
