LUC giving planning support to London Borough of Islington Parks Service
LUC is giving planning support to the London Borough of Islington’s Parks Service. Our advice will improve what its parks offer, providing places that feel safe and meet modern standards of accessible and inclusive design.
We have recently submitted an application for works to improve Barnard Park. We are also working with the Parks Service on a scheme to improve Wray Crescent Park.
The proposed works for Barnard Park include:
- reconfiguring its layout by replacing an underused but dominant Redgra sports area with a bookable 9-a-side 3G pitch at the centre of the Park;
- the installation of outdoor gym equipment;
- the creation of a new area for both formal and informal sports use and recreation;
- the erection of a new Community Hub;
- changes to the park entrances;
- footpaths and park furniture; and
- improvements to signage and information boards.
At Wray Crescent, we are providing planning support to plans to replace an existing cricket pavilion. The site is currently in a state of disrepair.
Islington Parks Service plans for a new multi-use building to support community events and sport at the site. It will provide a new community room, sport changing rooms, accessible toilets and baby change facilities. The new building will significantly increase its value as an asset for the whole community.
