LUC on winning team for RIBA design competition
We’re delighted to be part of Sarah Wrigglesworth Architects’ winning team for a design competition to regenerate Soar Island in Leicester.
Backed by Leicester City Council, the RIBA-run contest sought proposals to revitalise the islet in the middle of the River Soar.
The team’s mixed-use scheme proposed low-impact living, self-build homes and spaces for small businesses alongside open space and woodland.
According to the judges, our scheme stood out by ‘integrating heritage, landscape, ecology, and architecture together with a range of activities that could draw people to the site and create a strong identity for the riverside area’.
