LUC appoints Rob Booth as new Managing Director, signalling next phase in its 60-year journey

LUC is pleased to announce the appointment of Rob Booth as its new Managing Director, succeeding Jon Grantham who is retiring after a distinguished 40-year tenure.

A smiling man with short brown hair stands with his arms crossed in a modern office. He wears a navy blazer over a bright blue sweater and a collared shirt, with a small colourful round pin on his lapel. Behind him, a white partition wall features mirrored cut-outs forming part of the "LUC" logo. A white chair and a potted green plant are visible in the background, along with office desks and windows.
Rob Booth, LUC’s new Managing Director, brings extensive leadership experience and a passion for driving sustainable change in the UK.

Visionary leadership with proven credentials

Rob’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for LUC, reinforcing the company's mission of delivering better futures for nature, people, and places.

Rob brings a comprehensive leadership background spanning professional services, consultancy, and strategic roles, including over 11 years at The Crown Estate, where he held multiple senior roles; most recently leading strategy, operations, and asset management for the UK seabed.

Outgoing Managing Director Jon Grantham commented: “After four decades with this remarkable organisation, I am delighted to hand over leadership to Rob. He embodies the values that have always been central to LUC – a passion for making a positive environmental impact, a commitment to collaborative problem-solving, and a vision for sustainable development.”

Rob said: “We are investing in an approach that will drive our mission forward. Our goal is to positively influence developing policy and accelerate the UK's long-term commitments to Net Zero and nature recovery.

“I am incredibly excited to join the LUC team, as we challenge ourselves to constantly redefine what excellence looks like across the many sectors we support.”

A wooden table between them holds magazines, brochures, and small stacks of business cards. Several potted green plants are arranged on the table and floor. The man on the left wears a mustard-coloured jumper and dark trousers, while the man on the right wears a navy blazer over a blue sweater and collared shirt, with a colourful round pin on his lapel.

Expertise meets purpose

With deep sector experience in renewables, regeneration, habitat creation, and green infrastructure, Rob brings unique capabilities that closely align with LUC's strategic focus.

His background includes senior roles at The Crown Estate, Alba Partners, and Herbert Smith Freehills, with a proven track record of supporting government, clients and nationally significant industries.

“As somebody who has a deep and long-term affinity to LUC's values, I am really looking forward to embedding our core principles of collaborative problem-solving and environmental stewardship in all that we do,” Booth added.

“Our services and solutions will continue to provide an ever-greater benefit to nature, our clients, and our people.”

Rob's appointment signals the organisation's continued dedication to its founding principles of holistic, collaborative approaches to land use and environmental challenges.

The leadership transition officially takes place today (5 February 2025), but Rob began to engage with LUC's team, across all of its offices, and with key stakeholders, in January.
