The first proposed planned village in Surrey for over a century is a mixed-use development of up to 3400 homes and supporting infrastructure. LUC has been advising our client for a number of years to bring forward a sustainable settlement in this location.
This project aims to transform the site into a 21st century example of sustainable rural development creating a forward-looking and innovative new settlement, benefiting from modern technology and the latest thinking on sustainable planning and design.
Our landscape, ecology and EIA specialists worked alongside Pollard Thomas Edwards architects on the scheme, the design process running hand in hand with the EIA. Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) was a central input, particularly with relevance to the potential visual impact of the development on the Surrey Hills AONB.
LUC submitted the outline planning application on behalf of our client and, although Waverley Borough Council resolved to grant planning permission in support of the Officer’s recommendation, the proposal was called in by the Secretary of State.
LUC provided expert witness services at inquiry in relation to landscape and visual impacts and ecology.
