Collaborative working to achieve nature recovery
The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA) appointed LUC to author and edit the Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
LUC is working alongside Natural Capital Solutions, the organisation undertaking habitat mapping to form the basis of the strategy, and the organisation leading the consultation, Natural Cambridgeshire.
Positive impact for wildlife, communities and places
The LNRS will guide investments in nature recovery, influencing planning and development, environmental incentives, nature-based solutions, and overall funding for specific activities identified in the strategy.
As a result, the strategy will support efforts to restore habitats, create wildlife corridors, and improve water quality.
This will benefit a range of species, and provide opportunities for people to connect with nature.
Strategic planning and stakeholder engagement
LUC worked closely with Natural Cambridgeshire to ensure a wide range of stakeholders were engaged in the process of production.
This will ensure the strategy reflects the needs of the local community, landowners, and conservation groups.
Delivery and implementation
The LNRS will identify practical measures for achieving its goals. LUC provided guidance on how to prioritise actions, secure funding, and monitor progress. This will ensure the effective implementation of the strategy and the delivery of its benefits.
The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough LNRS will be a blueprint for creating a healthier, more resilient natural environment.
LUC's ecological and landscape management expertise was instrumental in developing this ambitious and achievable plan.
