Facilitating the expansion of sustainable energy
LUC supported BayWa r. e. UK Limited’s Section 36 application for Corriegarth 2 Wind Farm.
The goal was to extend the existing wind farm site with 14 additional turbines, enhancing its capacity to generate renewable energy and align with the Scottish Government’s targets for renewable energy and climate change mitigation.
Supporting national carbon goals
The project’s impact encompasses environmental sustainability, renewable energy production, economic development, and alignment with governmental objectives for combating climate change.
By expanding renewable energy infrastructure, the project supports national goals for reducing carbon emissions and transitioning to a greener future.
Guiding site design with visual expertise
LUC provided specialist visualisation services, to support the Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
The assessment addressed impacts on designated landscapes and wild land areas, following best practice guidance.
Dedicated landscape planning support
LUC provided specialist landscape planning services in support of the Section 36 application. Our team advised on the design of the scheme and conducted several landscape planning services.
The expert witness evidence, provided by LUC, influenced the Reporters’ consent recommendation. The Scottish Ministers adopted their findings, leading to Section 36 consent and planning permission approval.
"LUC landscape architects carried out the LVIA for Corriegarth 2 Wind Farm. Within an area sensitive to wind farm development, LUC provided a high quality assessment and visuals, and advised on turbine layout. Consulting closely with Highland Council, they helped overcome perceived design barriers to agree a layout that was ultimately consented.”
