About the project

LUC worked closely with our client Royal Museums Greenwich to produce a 15-year Landscape Masterplan for the grounds of the National Maritime Museum and the Queen’s House.

The 12-acre site is just 5 miles south-east of central London, at the heart of one of the most stunning complexes of buildings in Britain, symbolising over four centuries of maritime and scientific endeavour.

Our flexible masterplan is understanding of and inspired by this rich historical context. It proposes a complete re-programming of the site, encouraging visitors to venture into currently unexplored areas yet offering direct access to the Museum and Queen’s House. The design includes a new civic square and event space, rich planting and a new play area themed around epic discovery.
