Shaping a sustainable garden village
LUC provided specialist services to support the development of Salt Cross Garden Village, a new net-zero community near Eynsham, West Oxfordshire.
Commissioned by West Oxfordshire District Council, LUC’s work provides a rigorous evidence base to support the creation of a sustainable development that respects the landscape and history of the area.
Building a greener future
LUC's work on Salt Cross Garden Village helped to ensure the development considers the environment at every stage.
This includes protecting habitats, promoting biodiversity, and creating green spaces that encourage walking and cycling.
The project also supports the UK government's ambitions for net-zero development.
Landscape & Historic Environment Assessment
LUC's assessment considered the existing landscape and historical features of the site.
We made recommendations to minimise the development's impact and ensure the new community reflects the area's rural character. This included preserving historical assets and their settings.
Green Infrastructure Assessment
LUC's Green Infrastructure Assessment examined existing green spaces and proposed a network of new areas that promote active travel, connect habitats, and provide amenities for residents.
This assessment informed the wider Green Infrastructure framework for the Garden Village.
