Seven Lochs Water Vole Conservation Action Plan
Developing a five-year plan
LUC helped develop a comprehensive five-year plan to conserve a nationally significant water vole population in Glasgow.
Commissioned by NatureScot, the plan balances the needs of water voles with regeneration and development projects in North East Glasgow and Western North Lanarkshire.

Protected species
The water vole population in the Seven Lochs Wetland Park is a unique urban success story. LUC's plan ensures this population thrives alongside future development.
Local communities will benefit from improved green spaces and a chance to connect with nature.
Planning for biodiversity
LUC's team of ecologists provided strategic ecological advice.
This included a desk study, habitat suitability assessments, and the development of a robust methodology for future surveys.

Working with communities
LUC facilitated workshops and stakeholder engagement to ensure the plan reflects the needs of surrounding communities.
This will create a sense of ownership and encourage community participation in conservation efforts.
The plan provides a clear framework for future development decisions.
