Supporting multiple sites

LUC is collaborating with the Northern Ireland Department for Education on their Major Works initiative.

This project aims to modernise schools across the country, in many cases creating energy-efficient and sustainable facilities.

LUC ecologists are providing ecological expertise to ensure the project complies with wildlife legislation and protects habitats.

Protecting habitats

LUC's ecological surveys are contributing to a sustainable future for education in Northern Ireland.

The project ensures new schools are built with nature in mind, protecting wildlife and enhancing biodiversity.

This approach benefits local communities, creates a connection with the natural world for students, and safeguards protected species.

Protected Species Surveys

LUC ecologists conduct a range of surveys for protected species such as bats and badgers.

These surveys determine if protected species are present on the school site and assess the potential impact of the development.

BREEAM Support

LUC is also providing Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) advisory services to support the design of sustainable school buildings.

BREEAM is a leading sustainability assessment method that considers a building's impact on the environment.
