Restoring estates in the Scottish Highlands
Wildland is custodian of three significant Scottish estates working to help nature recover.
They commissioned LUC’s ecologists to guide their sensitive restoration of the Hope, Loyal and Kinloch estates.
We supported their renovation of buildings, infrastructure and landscapes.
Achieving gains for wildlife
LUC’s ecologists have delivered complex species surveys and implemented ambitious and innovative mitigation schemes as part of varied land development projects across the UK.
The north of Scotland supports unique ecological habitats.
Our ecological input on this project worked to protect species including bats, otters and barn owls.
Encouraging tourism and supporting the local community
LUC worked with Wildland and their architects to sensitively restore several buildings on the estates, ranging from ice houses and deer larders to sporting lodges and castles.
The project has created accommodations and enhanced outdoor recreation opportunities such as fishing.
This tourism boost has created job opportunities for the surrounding community and contributed to growing the local economy.
