Launch of the Natural England Green Infrastructure Framework

Following the recent launch of the Natural England Green Infrastructure (GI) Framework, LUC has reflected on its key components and is excited by its potential to help further promote the planning and delivery of good quality GI.

The framework aims to support equity of access to green and blue spaces across the country, whilst also helping to provide health and wellbeing benefits for people and wider biodiversity enhancements. A key feature of the framework is therefore how it complements existing and forthcoming planning tools.

We have developed the following infographic to summarise our interpretation of how the framework will support these wider mechanisms to help deliver good quality green space and provide a positive contribution to nature recovery.

LUC is already integrating the key components of the framework into our ongoing GI work and is looking forward to working with local planning authorities to explore the incorporation of the framework into local plan policy.
