Jonathan joined LUC in 2006 with 13 years’ experience as a management accountant. His background in geography and environmental technology gave him an excellent understanding of the natural environment and its two-way relationship with development.
He works predominantly in the field of strategic planning, including research to inform development plan evidence bases or guidance documents across topics such as ecosystems services, environmental limits, climate change, renewable energy, green infrastructure, green belt and biodiversity.
Jonathan has worked on numerous strategic environmental assessments, environmental impact assessments, sustainability appraisals and habitats regulations assessments of development plans. He is used to dealing with local planning authorities and the former regional planning bodies, and has also provided a ‘critical friend’ service to local authority clients who carry out plan assessments in-house. He has experience of neighbourhood planning and is on the steering group for the neighbourhood plan of his home parish.
Outside work: Jon enjoys being out on the water on the Isle of Wight or pounding its footpaths, asking himself why he signed up for that next running event.
