LUC is soon to submit the planning application for the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) Wimbledon Park Project.
The AELTC hired LUC to develop the landscape-led masterplan for their proposed Wimbledon Park Project in London, SW19. The project is led by LUC’s Landscape Design team, supported by LUC’s Planning, Environmental Impact, Ecology, Heritage and Visualisation colleagues.
LUC’s third virtual consultation room for the AELTC is now live, and the proposed use of the existing golf course site for The Championships, including the Qualifying event, and year-round activities, is now fully available for public review. This round of consultation follows on from previous virtual consultation events which LUC prepared addressing the existing park’s heritage, ecology and biodiversity.
The proposal will be submitted to the London Boroughs of Merton and Wandsworth in late July and includes the introduction of a new 9.4 hectare of public park for residents, visitors and the wider community to benefit from and enjoy.
The scheme will comprise:
- New public access to high-quality green space and parkland,
- New public access to nature and space for nature to thrive,
- The opportunity to enjoy a restored Capability Brown designed landscape,
- A newly accessible east-west route connecting into the existing adjacent public park,
- A new circular lakeside route around Wimbledon Park Lake,
- Educational trails highlighting ecology and heritage.
