LUC has been appointed by Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council to undertake an appraisal of Sutton Park. It is one of the largest urban parks in Europe, located 6 miles north of Birmingham city centre.
The park is designated a National Nature Reserve, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a Scheduled Monument and is included as Grade II on Historic England’s Register of Parks and Gardens of special historic interest in England. It is a key town asset and is one of the Council’s priorities in its Strategic Plan for 2020 – 2023.
LUC will conduct a detailed review of the park to record its assets, assess its physical condition and to help identify the work required to conserve the park over the next 30 years.
