LUC supports Blackburn with Darwen Council’s response to climate and ecological emergencies
LUC helped Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council maximise the impact of its new Local Plan in reducing carbon emissions and supporting nature recovery.
The Environmental Study will inform a suite of Local Plan policy recommendations, a climate checklist and smart indicators.
The project is innovative in its approach, combining analysis of:
- natural capital
- opportunities for carbon sequestration and natural flood management
- green infrastructure priorities
- nature recovery network
- biodiversity net gain
We are proud to have provided such a breadth of expertise on this project. Our team comprised Environmental Planners, ecologists, GIS specialists and Landscape Managers. Colleagues at the Energy Saving Trust assisted with carbon modelling and related advice.
The full report is available from Blackburn with Darwen online.
