LUC working on Central Bedfordshire Green and Blue Infrastructure Plan

LUC is working with Central Bedfordshire Council to prepare a Green and Blue Infrastructure (GBI) Plan.

The work is key in driving the creation of high-quality GBI across the area, helping to address the key challenges of biodiversity loss, climate change and the health and wellbeing of local residents.

The plan will strengthen and expand biodiversity networks to aid in nature recovery and address flood risk through river corridor restoration and nature-based solutions to water management. It will realise the multifunctional potential of green space, and promote active travel in ways that complement and support planned housing growth in the wider region.

LUC recently completed successful stakeholder workshops using our suite of virtual engagement tools. Our team is now developing a list of Strategic Opportunity Areas that respond to, and positively address, the issues raised.

We are pleased to work on GBI network enhancements in Central Bedfordshire and the neighbouring Greater Cambridge and Hertfordshire. Our involvement in these projects will provide good opportunities for cross-boundary links to be realised across a number of local authority areas.
