LUC has made three strategic promotions in order to support the Company’s ongoing growth.
Steven Orr has been made Director of Historic Environment, following over 15 years in practice. His expertise includes heritage management and impact assessment, conservation management plans, character assessment, research and policy/guidance development, peer review of environmental statements and expert witness work. He has a particular interest in World Heritage issues and is experienced in developing both policy and practical approaches to their conservation and understanding the likely impacts of development on their value.
Steven Orr said “I’m delighted to lead the next stage in the development of our historic environment team, as we grow in numbers and expand the range of services we offer. While there are definitely challenges for our heritage – in the form of climate change, planning reform and the need to understand the full stories of our treasured places – there are also significant opportunities for LUC in contributing robust evidence and high-quality, sensitive solutions. We have a great team in place, and I’m excited to see what we can do!”
Additionally, to support LUC’s expanding ornithology portfolio, Iain Mackenzie has been promoted to Associate Ecologist, and Michal Ostalowski has moved up to Consultant Ecologist. Iain coordinates ornithological and ecological input at all project stages, from field survey through to client and consultee liaison, data analysis, constraint mapping and assessment including Habitats Regulations Appraisal. He and Michal work on numerous development types at LUC, particularly projects in the renewables sector, principally onshore wind, and on overhead power line developments.
Iain Mackenzie said “I’m very excited about both this move to Associate level and developing LUC’s ornithology offer further. This growth reflects all the hard work done by the rest of the team over the last year and we are all looking forward to working on new and challenging projects in the future.”
