Shelloch Wind Farm granted planning permission
LUC is delighted to learn that Stirling Council has granted planning permission for Shelloch Wind Farm.
The site is approximately 12km south of Stirling and 4.5km north-east of Fintry, Stirlingshire. It is situated in the same location as Craigton and Spittalhill Wind Farm, which was previously consented but unimplemented.
Our Planning team completed the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and supporting planning documents. The application was submitted in December 2020 on behalf of Force 9 Energy and EDF Renewables.
We also subsequently prepared EIA Supplementary Information (SI) to address minor design changes and concerns raised by statutory and non-statutory consultees.
The consent allows for five wind turbines for an operational period of 30 years. Two turbines will have a tip height of 180m, and three will have a tip height of 149.5m.
Shelloch Wind Farm will save approximately 1 million tonnes of CO2 (tCO2) over its operational lifetime, which is over three times that of Craigton and Spittalhill Wind Farm.
It will also power 12,000 more UK homes than Craigton and Spittalhill Wind Farm, through the use of taller and more efficient turbine technology.
This project demonstrates our continued planning and EIA expertise, and our success in securing consent for our clients.
