The University of Sussex has received planning approval for the redevelopment of its West Slope Residences at Falmer Campus in Brighton.
The proposals received unanimous support during at the planning committee, which was held virtually, culminating over a year’s work by the project team.
LUC led the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) work and carried out the ecological assessment and landscape and visual impact assessment (LVIA) for the proposals.
Through the EIA work, we were able to identify and minimise effects on the sensitive areas of the site, and this is reflected in the positive response to the planning application.
The campus borders the South Downs National Park and LUC played a key role in enabling the National Park Authority and other consultees to understand how the proposed development will look.
Our landscape design team has provided landscape proposals for a number of new developments across the Falmer Campus including the recently completed Jubilee car park.
We have enjoyed our long-standing relationship with the University and are pleased that this latest project has been granted permission.
