LUC explores woodland and tree planting scenarios on Exmoor
LUC is excited to be working with FWAG SW (Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group South West) to produce visualisations for several scenarios relating to tree/woodland growth and new planting.
The visualisations will explore – over 30 years – the widening and restoration of hedgerows, natural regeneration, planting of in-field trees and strategic new planting along the Exmoor coastal strip. They aim to show how changes in tree and woodland cover can be planned to enhance and strengthen landscape character while building resilience to climate change. Developed in close consultation with local farmers, the visualisations will be used as a tool to facilitate debate on future landscape change.
The project is funded through the Countryside Stewardship Facilitation Fund. The fund helps groups of farmers and land managers achieve environmental outcomes at a landscape scale.
