Rachel has over 20 years’ experience as a conservation and heritage professional working in the public and private sectors, across the UK.

She excels in investigating, understanding and communicating heritage significance, seen as part of the bigger picture of placemaking and quality of life.

Rachel has extensive experience of significance and impact assessment in historic places and the production of management plans and policies. She has advised on a wide range of development proposals in sensitive historic contexts, and has taken part in local and national policy review and preparation.

She has developed assessment methods and guidance documents for conservation areas and large heritage assets, incorporating wider research and community engagement methods to improve the quality and outcomes of appraisal programmes.
