Women of Influence - Sarah Young and Taran Livingston

Two LUC staff named ‘Women of Influence’ in Planning

LUC’s Directors of Planning, Sarah Young and Taran Livingston, have been named ‘Women of Influence’ by The Planner magazine.

This is an excellent achievement and reflects LUC’s success in creating a gender-balanced workforce, as well as our approach to attracting and retaining the best talent through an ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Sarah Young

Sarah heads up LUC’s Strategic Planning service area and is a leading expert on Green Belt issues. She also excels in a range of other cross-disciplinary fields including Green Infrastructure, Growth Options Studies and Renewable Energy.

She is committed to knowledge sharing across a range of planning disciplines, and is an excellent mentor.  She is passionate about the development of LUC and her team.  She pushes them to produce work of the highest standard and to grow in knowledge and confidence, but always with good humour and concern for the individual.

Taran Livingston

Taran is an expert in strategic planning and seeks to inspire the future generation of planners. She is an incredible role model for her team.

Taran heads up our Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), Sustainability Appraisal (SA) and Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA) services. She has a love for the environment, having grown up in ‘clean, green’ New Zealand. Since then she has pursued a 20-year career in planning but also actively contributes to her wider community, participating in urban greening and community festivals.

Congratulations to Sarah and Taran for their achievements.
