Joanna Wright, Director of Environmental Planning at LUC, delivered a masterclass this afternoon on behalf of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
She discussed planning in relation to climate change, and how to implement carbon net zero locally.
This is the first instalment of the training course, which will conclude with the second part in December. The class contributes towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for RTPI members.
Learning objectives of the course include:
- Defining ‘carbon net zero’ and related concepts such as ‘carbon neutrality’ and ‘climate emergency’
- Reviewing related policies, including the translation of national targets into local level action
- Exploring the role of planning including policy formulation, site identification and development management
- Examining practical application of the net zero concept, with reference to a planning-related case study example
LUC has a long track record working with climate change mitigation and adaptation.
This includes climate positive designs and natural capital assessments that assist in our response to the climate emergency.
