Joanna Wright, Director of Environmental Planning at LUC, is presenting a masterclass next week on behalf of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
She will discuss planning in relation to climate change, and how to implement carbon net zero locally.
The masterclass forms the second stage of the training course, with the first part consisting of a self-guided multimedia learning course which was also prepared and delivered by Joanna.
The class contributes towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for RTPI members.
Learning objectives of the course include:
- Defining ‘carbon net zero’ and related concepts such as ‘carbon neutrality’ and ‘climate emergency’
- Reviewing related policies, including the translation of national targets into local level action
- Exploring the role of planning including policy formulation, site identification and development management
- Examining practical application of the net zero concept, with reference to a planning-related case study example
The masterclass will be held online on Wednesday 15 November.
LUC has a long track record working with climate change mitigation and adaptation.
